The Incorrigible Night Owl

Turning over three new leaves

I'm sitting here talking to my mom on YIM, whinging about John Zachary and his lousy sleep habits which border on outright sadism. I will not go into it here, as I am basically tired of hashing it all out. I have bored the good people of 20ish to tears with it and it just frustrates me to delve into it because there are simply no answers to the problem. It is so utterly without rhyme or reason that it makes me want to tear my hair out. You'd think that, after 9 months, I'd be used to it. But I am gullibly optimistic and, every time he shows some improvement, I can't help but think, "This is it! He'll do better from now on!" only to have my hopes dashed (again) when he reverts to his former ways.

Anyhoo, on to (only slightly) less aggravating subjects.

I started back on Weight Watchers points again today. I was planning to attend the meeting this Thursday but I think I may wait till the Thursday after, to give myself time to knock off a couple pounds so I'm not too far over what I was the last time I went. I have also begun to try to use salt substitute instead of the real thing. Better for my health in the long run, plus I'm sure all the salt I eat makes me retain about 5 lbs. of water!

As if that weren't enough, I am also taking the initiative to do better at keeping my house clean. My claim up till now was that I don't want to waste the kids' naptimes by doing boring junk like cleaning the whole time. After all, it's my only "me" time on any given day, and I need the break!

But Madalyn is very self-entertaining and JZ is now doing much better about allowing me to get across the room from him without screaming his head off. He is quite happy to sit in his exersaucer and have a zwieback. So there is no reason why I can't get some work done while they are awake and still have naptimes to go online or read or whatever. I'm also discovering that a lot of these things I avoid doing because I think they will take too long really can be completed in just a few minutes, if only I'd get off my rear and get to it.

So, being the list fiend that I am, I am making myself a list of goals for each day of jobs I want to get done around here. Today was only the first day but I completed all assigned tasks -- and it was a long list, too! I have my list for tomorrow typed up already.

Tomorrow John Zachary has his 9-month appointment with the doctor. No shots, thank heavens. Just a weigh-in, measurement and the usual checkup. I am very interested to see his stats and find out what percentile he's in. I already know he is in the neighborhood of 3 lbs. lighter than Madalyn was at this age, and at least an inch shorter. Too strange to finally have a normal-sized child.

We are down to only 4 days left of Robert being on the 7-10 a.m. show! Thank you, Lord! By this time next week we will both be on our way to decently-rested.

Wrapping it up for tonight.....
